When someone is first learning or researching about making money online, they often find and turn to Fiverr to get started, so knowing how to make money on Fiverr is great information to have for the newbies who are just starting out, or anyone looking for some fast ways to earn extra income on the internet.
I think just about anyone can earn money on fiverr as long as you have at least some internet/computer skills. Therefore, if you are looking for information about how to make money from Fiverr, you are in luck because I am going to show you how in this fiverr tutorial!
I’m going to assume you already know what Fiverr is if you are you wondering how to earn money from it, but in case you don’t, the short version is basically that it is a marketplace where people can sign up and sell their services for $5 (and up). Essentially it is a freelancing platform that allows “freelancers” to sell digital services for “buyers” to purchase them.
It’s entirely possible to go from a total beginner to earning at least $1,000 per month online if you find the right fiverr tutorial (which you did) and follow the advice.
To some people, $1k per month might not seem like much, but it can literally be a life-changer for others! Think about what you could do with an extra $12,000 per year added to your income. And that’s certainly NOT the maximum you could be earning, it’s only a baseline estimate for you, and a fraction of what some people are making.
Plus, it can show you that it actually is possible to make a living online, and that can give you the confidence that could lead to earning millions of dollars from the internet — all because you started on this simple platform offering your services for a relatively cheap fee.
Once you have some experience and a little extra money to play with, you can branch out into things like affiliate marketing, blogging, starting a SEO or web design agency, building a real online business, Adsense, doing facebook ads, or any one of the many other ways to make money on the internet. The opportunities are virtually endless, but Fiverr is certainly a great place to get started on your journey.
This is why I want to give you a short Fiverr tutorial and show you the basics of how to make money from Fiverr quite quickly.
Before we jump into the deep end, let’s tread a little water in the kiddie pool first (aka go over some basics).
What is Fiverr?
I’m going to assume you already basically know the answer to this, or at least have a pretty good idea, considering you are looking for ways to earn money from fiverr.
However, there are probably some people reading this who aren’t exactly sure, so I’ll give a very short explanation for you…
Basically Fiverr is an online marketplace where you can sell a variety of different products and services starting at just $5. There are a huge amount of options for what you can offer, and plenty of buyers for just about any category you can imagine.
When it first started out, everything was $5 no matter what, but these days it is possible to sell things for MUCH more than that. With add-ons, upsells, etc… You can get to hundreds or even thousands of dollars per gig in some cases.
For those of you looking to earn money the process to get started is pretty simple. You sign up for the site and create your offer (product/service), which is known as a “gig” on Fiverr.
Then, people needing the types of gigs you offer come to fiverr and buy.
In theory, the process is super simple, but you are competing against thousands of other people to get buyers for your gigs, so there’s certainly a lot more to it than this, which we will get to later. For now, I am just telling you the process at the most basic level.
You can offer just about anything such as graphics & web design, digital marketing, videos, writing, social media, modeling, reviews, music, and a whole lot more.
All you have to do is look through some of the available Fiverr gigs to see how varied they are and which ones are the most popular. It doesn’t take long to notice that there is a gig for just about anyone for almost anything!
Some of the most popular types of services include:
- Writing/Content
- Link Building
- General SEO Tasks
- Social Media
- Website Help/Design
- Videos
- Images/Graphics/Logos
But those are certainly not all of them – not even close actually. There are literally hundreds of different topics to choose from and you can find a lot of surprising things to buy or sell on there. So just about any skill you have, or anything you need, can be bought or sold on fiverr.
You can use their built-in search engine to find certain gigs or you can browse through all of the various topics. Read reviews, see prices, get ideas, and so on. There’s a lot you will learn once you jump in and start digging around the platform.
The best part is that pretty much anyone can figure out how to make money on fiverr simply by signing up as a seller and diving into the platform to sell your service.
If you are looking for a relatively simple way to get started earning online, it really does not get much easier than this. I’ve been doing this a long time and even I can’t help but admire its simplicity. There really aren’t very many easier ways to make money online with such a short learning curve (if any at all)!
Getting Started on Fiverr – The Basics
Creating your account on Fiverr is super easy and won’t cost you a cent.
Just follow the steps, fill in all the information, and upload a high quality profile picture.
I’ll assume by now you have already researched and decided on what you are going to sell, so you are now ready to create your gig…
Follow through the creation process and finalize everything so that your gig becomes live on the site. Make sure you provide all of the details you can relating to what you are selling (see more tips on this below in the full fiverr tutorial).
That is pretty much all there is to it for getting started.
Earning Money from Fiverr
So how do you make a lot of money with Fiverr? Well, first of all, you should spend plenty of time looking into what other people are having the most success offering in their gigs.
There’s no big secret here… Just find what other people are selling like crazy. If you have the same skills (or can acquire them) this is probably what you should be selling.
I’m sure you already have an idea in mind — maybe even several of them — but you still need to do your research beforehand. There’s nothing worse than thinking you have a great product/service to offer only to find out nobody wants it! It’s always a good idea to do some solid research in order to validate your idea and see if there are actually (a lot of) people interested in paying for what you are planning to offer.
Making sure you do plenty of research and competition spying will save you a bunch of time in the long run and prevent you from choosing something that you won’t be able to make money with.
There are some things you need to dig into when you are doing your research into whether the product/service that you want to sell on Fiverr is going to be worthwhile and profitable for you.
Here are some ideas for the things that you need to consider (think of others for your specific situation):
Check Related Gigs
Create a list of things you want/plan to offer (I assume you have already done this). Then, head over to Fiverr and look through the various categories/gigs.
See how well they are doing… total amount of orders, number of orders in queue, reviews, and so on. Basically check how popular the offers truly are, and the history of them until you find the best one on your list for you.
Basically, you just want to be absolutely sure that you are about to create a gig that people want and is going to be very profitable for you, while also being something you have real skills in. No point in doing trial and error – wasting your time and resources – when you can just do some thorough research ahead of time!
Also, keep in mind the “time factor” of your gig. Meaning, if you find one selling amazingly well that takes a lot of time and another selling pretty well that doesn’t take very much time, you should go with the latter. If you can sell just about as much with less time then always go with that option!
Find the best balance of popularity vs time investment as you can possibly get.
Once you are certain that you’ve found a winner then move on to…
Creating Your Fiverr Gig
Go to your dashboard to create a new gig, then select “selling” from the menu bar, and you should see a button that says, “add a new gig” after that.
At this point, you basically just go through the steps of the gig creating process. Follow the prompts and add all your information. It’s important to be as detailed as possible on each step. Check the top selling gigs in the category for ideas, and make yours even better!
Check the competition for titles, descriptions, categories, tags, pricing, requirements, pictures, faq, etc…
Get some ideas from multiple top sellers. Then, you can edit, combine, and expand them to come up with the “holy grail” of all gigs.
Basically, you want to look at all the stuff that your top competitors are doing, examine the best parts of their gigs, and make yours the best of them all.
Don’t forget, you can create MULTIPLE gigs on the platform, so utilize all the skills you have in order to maximize your profits and figure out how to earn money from fiverr. Or create related gigs to your most profitable services in order to keep your customers coming back for more.
The Step-by-Step Process for How to Make Money on Fiverr
Simply follow the steps below and you will learn how to easily earn money from Fiverr…
1) Practice
Unless you are already an expert at whatever gig you decide to offer, you will need to make sure you have it perfected before starting to sell it. Everyone knows that practice makes perfect, so get to practicing.
It may take you weeks or even months of practice but it will be worth it in the end. You don’t want to jump in and ruin your reputation by not really knowing what you are doing. Make sure you can complete the work quickly, efficiently, and with high quality before you ever put it up for sale.
2) Create Your Gig
Once you know you can produce your service relatively quickly and with high quality, it’s time to create your Fiverr gig.
I suggest keeping the title short and simple, but also as descriptive a possible. Test different versions until you find the winner. Hardly anything is ever right the first time.
3) Create the Image
Look at similar gigs to yours and you’ll quickly notice many of the best sellers have images that really stand out above the others. So take some inspiration from them and create the best image possible for your particular gig.
You might even have to hire someone from Fiverr to do it, which is fine, you are giving back to the community while also bettering yourself!
4) Write the Description
The description of your gig is very important because it tells people what they are actually getting. So you need to make sure you get it right.
It’s a good idea to look at what some of the top sellers of your gig (and/or related gigs) are using for their descriptions. Take some ideas from them — don’t copy them — and make yours even better!
5) Keywords (Tags)
An important part of your gig (that many people miss or don’t get right) is the tags/keywords. Having your service tagged correctly is vital for the ranking of your gig in the fiverr search results, and most of the time that is how people will find you… they will search for what they need and look at the gigs that come up. You need yours to be there!
6) Add a Video for Your Gig
This is not required but it is an option that I highly recommend doing. Adding a video to your gig will help it stand out and help to boost its rankings in search results. This will increase sales, so it’s more than worth doing.
The video doesn’t need to be professionally done or even anything too special. Just something short and sweet to show off the service.
7) Add-Ons (Extras)
You can make a lot more money by adding extras to your gig. This will allow you to earn far more than the initial $5 base price for the gig, or whatever your starting price is set at. It’s possible to make well over $100 per order with the right add-ons or a more premium service option.
What you offer and the amount to charge will depend upon the type of product/service you are selling in your gig, but there is almost always something extra that you can add for a higher price. This is where the real money is made on Fiverr.
The Secret to Ranking Your Fiverr Gig – And Making the Big Bucks!
Once you have it all set up and your gig is live, there are some insider secrets you can apply to get it ranking faster and more sales flooding in.
This is something I probably shouldn’t even share publicly because everyone will be doing it once this post starts ranking, but I’m going to do it anyway…
You can rank virtually any gig on Fiverr quite quickly by implementing these extra steps (only after you’ve done everything posted above)…
* The Fake Account
Create a fake/dummy account on fiverr and buy your own gig 2-3 times. Then give it a great review. You are only going to lose a few bucks by doing this, but it should net you a heck of a lot more in the end.
* Send Visitors
Now it’s time to send a few hundred visitors (don’t do too many) to your gig in order to boost your impressions and make it more visible to buyers. Yes, these can be fake visitors, and you can get them for cheap. In fact, there are even Fiverr gigs where you can buy them from, or others sites if you just do a simple Google search.
* Get Your Keywords Right
This has already been mentioned to an extent above, but it’s worth reiterating again… Be sure to use the right tags for your gigs and include the keywords that you want to rank for in your title/description. This is important enough for me to go over twice, so you probably don’t want to mess it up!
* Promote Your Fiverr Gig
If you have done everything above that I’ve taught you in this fiverr tutorial then you shouldn’t need to do anything else to promote your gig. There are millions buyers on Fiverr, so once you’ve ranked your gig, you should already have a huge amount of exposure and buyers ready.
However, if you aren’t getting quite as many sales as you would like, or if you just want to take your business up a notch, you can always do some extra marketing of your gig.
Of course, there are the obvious things like SEO, PPC, paid ads, etc… but those aren’t really as necessary for a fiverr offer as they are for a lot of other internet businesses.
So, what I would suggest is finding online forums, facebook groups, quora questions, and other similar places that are related to what you offer in your gig. Then, strategically post it in there wherever it fits in.
Do NOT go spamming these places with your link/gig anywhere and everywhere, as that will definitely have the opposite effect of what you are wanting!
You want to offer real answers and legitimate advice to questions in these places while only promoting your gig where it is natural and not forced.
For example; if someone asks — where could I find someone to do [whatever your gig does], or how do I do [whatever your gig does], or something along those lines… this is a good opportunity to chime in. But make sure you are also offering free advice to the community with no strings attached whatsoever. Give before you take!
5 Bonus Tips to Maximize Your Fiverr Income
Having a five star rating and positive reviews is VERY important, especially when you are still a fairly new seller, so you need to take extra steps to help ensure you don’t get any low ratings or bad reviews. In addition, these are just good business practices.
- Communication Is Key
- Professionalism Always
- Overdeliver Whenever Possible
- Make Sure You Have Enough Time
- Don’t Be Afraid To Decline Orders
You need to respond quickly to questions, address any concerns they have, discuss things to make sure you and the buyer on the same page, etc… Basically just keep a solid line of communication.
Don’t let questions or concerns go unanswered for more than a few hours, if possible, and definitely not more than a day. Also, don’t avoid responding to something just because you aren’t sure what the buyer is asking. It’s always best to clear up any potential issues ahead of time.
It’s also very important to be polite and stay professional. At some point, you will certainly come into a situation where you and the buyer are in disagreement with each other. You need to stay calm, cool, and collected. Even if the buyer is being very difficult or is downright wrong, you should not lose your temper or argue with them. This alone can turn a potentially bad review into a good one.
Any time someone gets a service or product that is even better than what they expected or what was promised, it will make them very happy. Not only will this just about guarantee you a 5-star rating and positive review, it will also get you a lot of repeat customers and even some tips. There are many ways in which you can overdeliver, but most will depend upon the type of fiverr gig you are offering, so you will just have to figure that part out on your own.
Be certain to always give yourself enough extra time so you will still be able to deliver the product when promised even if something unexpected arises. Plus, as you become more popular, you’ll start getting multiple orders happening at the same time. You don’t want to miss deadlines or it will get you lower ratings, and definitely hurt your gig.
If you start getting too many orders and are having difficulty completing them in time, you probably need to raise your prices. This will allow you to make the same amount of money while doing less work.
If you have a concern about a buyer or something just doesn’t seem right, then you can decline the order. It’s not worth it to take on a client that you can already tell from the start will be difficult and probably not happy no matter what you do. Most of the time you won’t have any way to tell, but once in a while it is obvious, so don’t be afraid to decline it rather than take the risk.
As time goes on and you sell hundreds of gigs (maybe even thousands), it will be virtually impossible to maintain a 5/5 rating, or have 100% positive reviews, but you still want to make sure you keep it at a 4.5+ no matter what. So use the tips above to help you do exactly that.

That’s pretty much the entire tutorial for how to make money on Fiverr.
